Chelsea Tour
This tour took place on 22nd June 2004, accompanied by Matt.
I needed to go to Chelsea to buy a digital radio (tedious details) from
Richer Sounds, and, being reluctant to waste the travelcard, arranged a
Chelsea tour-let with Matt, which also incorporated watching England
lose to France at football. For the record, I'm writing this around two
weeks hence, and the trauma associated with watching England compete in
a major football tournament is gradually subsiding.
Richer Sounds
Clearly not a pub, but the way this shop clashes with it's surroundings
is interesting (not to you; to me). Here it is, sticking rigidly
to the chain style:

And this is what most Chelsea streets in the vicinity look like:

Well done, Richer Sounds.
Finch's, Chelsea
Well, I liked this pub. It's 'Finch's' as in the small bird. Here's a
picture:

I had a shandy, risking disqualification on grounds of insufficient
Young's consumption, but it was the sort of day that absolutely
required lemonade. Anyway, we decided to stay and watch the football
there, so several counting beverages followed. Fortification became
necessary, which was really good,
have a look at the evidence:

That'a a mushroom burger in the true sense of the word. Yes those
mushrooms have melted cheese on them. As the picture is slightly
lacking, let me fill you in on the very nice flatbread stuff on which
the shrooms sit, and the lovely dollop of coleslaw situated towards the
rear of the plate. Mm, burger.
Well, as we lost the football, it became evident that half of the pub
was French - that's what you get for hanging around in
cosmopolitan areas. Mind you, in Croydon, they had a riot, which is a
bit worse.
Chelsea Ram
Took a bit of navigating to, but we managed it. Near the river, in a
nice way, OK pub but lots of wine and the barmaid wouldn't acknowledge
the existence of Double Chocolate Stout, much less serve us any. Hmph.
